October 27, 2009- Gena was very happy to meet Robert Schultz and Tina Faigen at Denton, Cottier and Daniels piano store in East Rochester, NY, as they presented a piano workshop about their works for piano! Another chance to learn more about being a better teacher from experts in piano teaching and composition! October 2, 2009--Gena attended the Nazareth Keyboard Forum at Nazareth College, given by the combined Greater Rochester Music Teachers Association and Rochester Piano Teachers’ Guild, Inc. It was quite informative regarding many ways to teach piano better! August 15, 2009--Timothy Brown, prolific composer and pianist from Dallas, TX, gave a Piano Workshop for Piano Teachers in Webster, NY at Atlas Music store. He gave many interesting piano teaching ideas from a composer’s point of view. Gena was grateful for the opportunity to attend! August 4, 2009--Gena is back from a trip to Buffalo to the Ilos Piano store where she attended a Piano Workshop for Piano Teachers sponsored by Alfred Publishing and featuring the composer Melody Bober performing and teaching from her many piano works! Many good teaching tips were given at that workshop! Last week, Gena was fortunate to be able to play piano for one of the combos at the Tritone Jazz Fantasy Camp where she had studied the previous year. She was glad to see old friends there! January 2009 --The studio has a BRAND-NEW piano! August 2008 --Gena is just back from Tritone Jazz Fantasy Camp, where she played in the big band and in a small combo, studying jazz with Eastman School of Music faculty members!
